47-year-old Julian Assange left Sweden to avoid a sexual assault case According to the BBC's report, London police said Assange was arrested for not surrendering even after court arrest warrant.
Britain's Interior Minister Sajid Javid confirmed the arrest of Assange. He said, 'I am sure Julian police is in custody. He has to face trial in the UK.
Ecuadorian President Lenin Marengo said his country's asylum policy was abolished by Assen's violation of international law. But Wikileaks's Twitter has said that Ecuador has violated their political asylum commitment through the arrest of Assange.
Earlier on January 11 last year Ecuador granted Assange citizenship.
In 2010, WikiLeaks released 200,000 US diplomatic cables and five million military secret documents. A few days later, a case was filed against him in Sweden for rape. The UK government wanted him to be handed over to Sweden for trial in the case. Then on February 6 last year, a UK court decided to cancel Assange's arrest warrant.
