The world's largest airplane flies to California's sky |
On Saturday morning the plane flew from an airplane in the Mohavi Desert to the sky. At the end of the two-hour flight it returned to the airfield again.
Microsoft's co-founder Paul Allen's company Stratolanche built this aircraft.
The two wings of the aircraft are equal to an American football field. The plane is powered by six engines.
The aircraft has been created to launch satellites in the orbit of the Earth.
Now satellites are installed through rocket launches. But Stratolanche's plan, this plane will be raised at a height of about 10 kilometers and then it will be released in the orbit of the Earth. This will reduce the costs of satellite launch.
The speed of the aircraft was 189 miles per hour on experimental flights. It reached 17 thousand feet high.
The pilot pilot Ivan Thomas said that the first flight ended as they did. He described his experience as 'great'.
Stratolanche calculate the length of the wings of their aircraft as the world's largest. But there is a lot of airplanes in the airplane considering the length of the airplane to the tail.
By 2020, the company plans to launch a satellite using this aircraft, the construction company Stratolanche
